Hi, I’m Dr. McKenna
A little about me… I am originally from Richland Center, WI and grew up very involved in 4H showing animals and later FFA. I enjoyed serving on the FFA board and spending time at my now husband’s family dairy farm. I loved playing softball and helping out the younger teams. I have always loved working with children and volunteering in different compacities. For two years during high school, I was blessed to be able to spend time as a teacher’s assistant in our elementary classroom and special education room. Spending time in the Special Education room, I learned so much and made me want to look deeper into ADHD, Autism, and overall behaviors in kids.
My husband and I both went to school at UW-Platteville. Our favorite thing at Platteville was getting involved with the Circle K International group on campus, a branch of the Kiwanis club. I graduated with a degree in Biology, and my husband graduated with a degree in Ag Business with minor in Finance. You will see him around the office and at the Community First Bank in town as a Credit Analyst.
Then I went on to school at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. During my time at Palmer I focused on learning how to best serve families, especially moms and babies. I even relaunched the Pregnancy and Pediatric club on campus. During this time, I also found a love for researching and studying hormones and menstrual cycles! Five National Boards, three certifications, what seemed like a million hours studying for test and practicals, and one Doctorate of Chiropractic degree later, I am here in Platteville ready to serve the community.

My Approach
My approach to chiropractic is rooted in listening first. Every person who walks in brings a different story, a different body, and a different season of life. Because of that, care here is never one-size-fits-all.
I focus on supporting the nervous system and how the body adapts to stress, whether that stress is physical, emotional, or coming from everyday life. Rather than chasing symptoms, I take time to look at the whole picture and understand what your body may be responding to. Care at Beyond the Spine is gentle and intentional.
I work primarily with women, children, and families because these seasons of life ask a lot of the body. Pregnancy, childhood, and parenthood all come with constant change, and the nervous system plays a big role in how we handle it. Supporting the nervous system helps the body function more smoothly and communicate more clearly.
Above all, my goal is for care to help you feel and function better, and to remind you that your body was created with intention and is capable of healing when it’s supported.
